Target Group

is to offer an opportunity to a large number of trained teachers produced by the NCoEs over the past years, trained teachers from teacher training colleges, distance training holders and non-graduate teachers (Group I) to upgrade their teacher training and to obtain a specialized degree in their field of work.

Objectives

The objective of the Bachelor of Education Honours Degree programme is to empower the school system with teachers who are knowledgeable, well qualified and skillful who can provide the specialized education as required for the subject as well as a general education to ensure an all-round citizen for the future. They will meet the requirements of the Level Descriptors and Qualification Descriptors applicable to SLQF Level 6.

Eligibility

Group I

  • National Diploma in Teaching holders are eligible to enter directly to the Group and
  • Permanent and continuous service from the date of first appointment

Group II

  • three passes at the G.C.E (A/L) examination or
  • Government Teacher Training Certificate or
  • A diploma from a recognized Institute leading to a placement in the teacher service equivalent and
  • Permanent and continuous service from the date of first appointment.

Programme Structure

The teaching methodologies are accomplished by a set of activities based on learning together with face-to-face contact sessions comprising the main mode of teaching. This includes pedagogical approaches expository, individualized learning and discovery methods, adopted as and when required.

Course duration is 48 months and maximum of 96 months.

Entrance Exam/Test Fee: Rupees 0.00

Registration Fee: Rupees 2,000.00

Programme Fee: Rupees 100,000.00 in 3 Instalment(s).

Examination Fees: In addition candidates have to pay examination fees when appling examinations.
